Choosing a General Manager, just like making wine, requires a certain level of expertise, a good vision of the future, and the right dose of caution and audacity. That is why the Maison Labouré-Roi did not hesitate to go as far as Sweden to find its new General Manager, Denis de la Bourdonnaye, aged 46. It needed a man with solid wine knowledge, respected throughout the world and who’s practices center around a consumer-based approach. His capacities to successfully lead a team and make the necessary decisions for a company going through a re-development phase, have also greatly contributed to the final decision to appoint him.
Certified as an agronomist and oenologist, Denis de la Bourdonnaye is a man who can tackle the challenges faced by Maison Labouré-Roi in today’s 21st century context. Having studied in Alsace where he broadened his knowledge in winemaking, he then joined the famous Laroche brand from Chablis. For 11 years he actively worked at developing the brand, by improving its products and promoting them on the French and international markets. His latest achievement is being the mastermind behind the Oenoforos Group’s recovery, a Swedish group producing wines throughout the world, mainly destined for its internal market, which it represents 10% of today.
With this strong expertise gained in Sweden, Denis de la Bourdonnaye has chosen to join Labouré-Roi’s team in November 2015, attracted by the brand’s determination to redeploy all of its efforts in France and the world, and by its incredible potential to be positioned on high quality Burgundy wines, sold at reasonable prices.
Conscious of the difficulties presented by this challenge, Denis de la Bourdonnaye immediately relied on the talents of his 45-person team, set-up to recapture the key markets of the brand. Embracing the sales and marketing functions of the company, he pulled up his sleeves and launched a complete and comprehensive reform of its strategic approach.
Today he travels from one market to another, and meets with all the brand’s clients, with the goal of gaining more understanding as to the needs and expectations of our final consumers and to bring back more accurate answers in terms of the range and quality of our wines.
Denis de la Bourdonnaye wants to invest his energy in the long term for the revitalization of Maison Labouré-Roi, fully counting on the gustatory potential of its wines and their excellent quality/price ratio.
What a noble challenge!
